About SplashScout

SplashScout is an independent family-travel guide. We rate hotels and campsites for the thing that actually decides whether a family holiday works: the water — and whether it suits the ages you're travelling with. A resort that's brilliant for teens can be miserable with a toddler, and a gentle baby-pool place can bore an 11-year-old rigid. So we score every stay separately for toddlers (0–3), kids (4–11) and teens (12+).

How we score

Each stay gets three scores out of 10. Every score weighs:

• Water for that age — baby & toddler pools, splash zones and zero-entry lagoons for little ones; slides, water playgrounds and lazy rivers for kids; wave pools, big slides and sports for teens.
• Kids' facilities — clubs, playgrounds, evening entertainment, and whether the club takes under-3s.
• Guest reviews — we cross-check every listing against real guest ratings and what families actually say (noise, cleanliness, how calm the pools are).

Because we only list stays that genuinely suit families, our scores are calibrated within that curated set — so the numbers spread meaningfully from about 7 (a solid family choice)up to 9.5+ (exceptional), rather than clustering in the middle. A 7 here still means a genuinely good family stay; we don't list the places that would score below that.

How we stay independent
