Affiliate disclosure

SplashScout is an independent family-travel guide. Some links on this site — including “Check availability” and “Search flights” — are affiliate links. If you book through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Commission never influences a property’s age-fit scores or where it ranks; scores are compiled from property listings and guest reviews.

What we collect

• Analytics: we count page views and a few actions — which property pages get looked at, when a booking link is clicked, when something is saved or compared, and when the holiday finder is used. We do not record your IP address or your browser’s user agent, and a referring link is reduced to just its website name (enough to tell Google from a forum, not a trail of where you’ve been). We do record the country your request came from. If you accept cookies we also keep a random session number in your browser for the length of your visit, so a person clicking three pages counts once rather than three times; if you decline, the visit is still counted but nothing is stored on your device and no number is sent.
• Affiliate cookies: if you accept cookies, our booking partner (Travelpayouts / Booking.com and flight partners) may set a cookie so a booking can be credited to us. You can decline this in the cookie banner and everything still works.
• Your preferences: your favourites, comparisons and chosen departure city are stored in your own browser and the lists themselves are never sent to us. Tapping save or compare does record an anonymous event that it happened, with the property involved, so we can see which places people are drawn to.
• Email updates: if you ask to hear about new stays we keep your email address, the page you signed up from, the destination you asked about, and the dates you signed up and confirmed. We use double opt-in, so nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email, and we keep those details as the record of your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• The holiday finder: what you type is sent to Anthropic to generate the reply. We keep the question, which properties were suggested, and how much the request cost us, with no name or account attached. Please don’t type anything personal into it.
• Forms: if you use the contact, support or claim-your-property forms, we keep the name, email and message you send so we can reply.

Who else handles it

We keep this list short on purpose. Vercel hosts the site, Cloudflare R2 stores our analytics events and mailing list, Resend sends our email and holds the list of confirmed subscribers, Anthropic generates the holiday finder’s replies, and Travelpayouts and its booking partners handle affiliate tracking if you accept cookies. We don’t sell personal data or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Analytics events are deleted after about 14 months. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only a record that you did, so we don’t email you again by mistake. Messages sent through the forms are kept as long as they’re useful for answering you.

AI assistants (MCP)

SplashScout offers a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server so assistants like Claude and ChatGPT can show our age-scored hotel cards in a chat. It is read-only and requires no account or login. When your assistant calls it, it receives only the search terms your assistant sends (such as a destination, the ages travelling, or wanted features) in order to return matching results. We do not collect or store personal data through the MCP server, and we don’t receive your identity, your chat history, or anything your assistant doesn’t explicitly pass in a tool call. The cards return the same public hotel information as this website, with affiliate “Check availability” links as described above.

Your choices

You can decline cookies in the banner, and clear site data any time in your browser settings. Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe. You’re also entitled to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted — email us and we’ll do it. If you think we’ve got something wrong you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
